Soft Washing

Pressure washing uses high-pressure water to remove surface material mechanically. Soft washing uses biodegradable chemicals applied at low pressure — the chemistry does the work, not the water. Soft washing is the correct method for surfaces that would be damaged by high pressure: roofs, painted weatherboard, render, and older brick.

Yes. It is the recommended method for terracotta and concrete roof tiles. High-pressure washing on roof tiles risks cracking, dislodging ridge capping, and stripping protective coatings. Soft wash treatment at low pressure removes the biological growth without any of those risks.

On roofs, soft wash results typically last three to five years longer than pressure washing because the treatment kills the organism at the root rather than blasting off the surface. The growth returns eventually, but at a slower rate than after a pressure clean.

We use biodegradable treatments specifically formulated for exterior cleaning. They break down after contact and do not leave harmful residue on the surface or in the surrounding soil. We pre-wet gardens and plants around the treatment area before applying.
